Break free from your comfort zone – and embrace courageous living!
Fortune favours the bold, as the saying goes.
Well, last Saturday, I experienced Live Brave Day, hosted by the amazing Margie Warrell, bestselling author of Brave, Find Your Courage and Stop Playing Safe.
This exhilarating event was packed with courageous women, all who want change in their life. Some were taking the first steps to get where they want to be, while others were deciding if the path they are already on is really where they want to be – and finding the courage to keep going.
Margie filled the day with tremendous insights and nuggets of wisdom, and I’ve come away inspired to share with you 3 points that resonated with me on the day.
1. Be BOLD … Fear prevents you from taking that 1st step
Often, while we can intellectually understand what has to be done to achieve a goal, we’re paralysed when it comes to taking action. Women are especially ‘good’ at underestimating our abilities and we often want to be more ‘perfect’ before we take action. There is no ‘perfect’ – the time to act is NOW.
Another delaying tactic is constantly looking for a quick fix, or another way to do something, when really all we need is enough courage to say ‘YES’ or ‘NO’ – whichever is appropriate.
A good question to ask yourself is: “What would be the consequence if I didn’t take action? How will I feel?”
You may feel stuck, frustrated and your business may not grow as you’d like.
Imagine how you might feel if you DO take action towards a goal, despite any fear you may experience. You’ll most likely feel encouraged, with a sense of achievement – whether you get the results you’re after, or simply learn some valuable lessons along the way.
2. Get your foundations in order
With any journey – and business is a long-term journey – certain foundations have to be in place and working well.
Firstly, as the owner of your business, are you looking after your physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health?
Secondly, are the foundations in your business strong and running smoothly? By that I mean your systems and frameworks. These need to be rock solid and run like clockwork to free you up to do what you’re good at and what you love.
Take the time to ensure all your foundations are in order. This will set you up for business success.
3. Set your Power Virtues to live by for the next 3 months
Margie encouraged us to set 3 Power Virtues and use them as the core for our intentions this quarter. I came up with Bold, Self-ish (strengthen discipline around me) and Assertiveness.
What would 3 Power Virtues serve you over the next 3 months?
I hope you’re inspired to take these 3 insights from Live Brave Day into this week, so you can step up when you need to be BOLD in your life and business!
