3 Keys to Business Growth through Collaboration

This week’s Collaboration event was a fabulous day! We had a room full of amazing businesswomen, all buzzing with creative, innovative energy.

There were so many ‘ah-ha’ moments – and everyone walked away with exciting ideas from the full-on content we packed into the day.

I want to share some takeaways with you, but that’s tricky with the amount we covered. So I’ve narrowed it down to 3 that resonated with me:

  1. Clarity

Collectively, we agreed that before you start any process of collaboration, you first need to get clear on why you would do it, and think about what the outcome would be.

It’s also imperative that your purpose and values are aligned with your collaborating partner.

Having this clarity allows you to move into a plan of action you can both agree to. That way, there’s less chance of any misunderstanding later on.

  1. Ask

Women are great collaborators – you already know that!

But we’re not so good at asking for what we truly want. This can hold us back in using collaboration as a tool for business growth.

One activity on the day was to work out our ‘ask’.

What would you ask for if there were no barriers holding you back? Be bold. Some amazing results came up yesterday in this exercise when we asked for what we want. And I know that can happen for you, too.

I’d love to hear what you’d ask for!

  1. Use Collaboration to solve the pain points in your business

Have you thought about sharing a business problem with someone and coming up with a solution that meets both your needs?

In a small business, resources are an issue – people, products, cash, time. What creative way can you work with someone to use your resources more productively?

You could consider sharing a team member or better buying behaviours, for example.

Ask our community

If you missed being in the room, and you want to hear more about what we covered, pop into our SASSY Facebook group and ask the attendees. They’d love to share some of the insights with you. Who knows? It could lead to a collaborative relationship between you!

Finally, with the new financial year upon us, I have a question for you:

Have you brought your planning together for the next 12 months?

I’d encourage you to spend some time working out where you want to head in 2017/2018. You can even share your plans and goals in the Facebook group, for the support, accountability – and collaboration – to help you reach them.

Until next time … Have an EXTRAORDINARY week!
